The Team

For fifteen years, our team of talented, committed and passionate experienced Associates have played an integral part in the development and promotion of person-centred approaches, self-directed support and individualised budgets.

We are thrilled that Sue, Lucy and Jo have joined us as senior associates.

All associates have a passion for ensuring ordinary lives for all and bring a wide range of life and work experience to their work with us.   Passionate people, with creative and engaging approaches  committed to offering the best to every person the meet.

In 2013 we made a commitment to ensure that at least 80% of our training is designed and delivered with one of our team of experts with experience. The feedback from participants to this co-faciliated work has been powerful.


Damian Stephens- Damian spent most of his early career managing in different sectors and industries. He finally found Social Care in 2013. Laura Broughton- Laura Broughton, works as an associate for Paradigm, an “expert by experience” with Choice Support, for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) since 2010. Sue Livett- Sue has worked in the voluntary sector since leaving school, in voluntary and paid roles. Loredana Bizgan- Lore was a volunteer at our Be Free 2014 gathering and she joined the Paradigm Team at the beginning of 2015. Nan Carle- Nan Carle’s career has pushed at the frontiers of social inclusion from multiple directions. Nan experience includes supporting people in London to leave long stay hospitals and spending 8 years with the Kings Fund College specialising in management and leadership development. She returned to the United States to work with the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Owen Cooper- Owen was Chief Executive of IAS from 1998 to 2011, and is now Chair of Trustees of the newly formed charity, as well as doing some freelance work..
