John O’Brien and Nan Carle in discussion (Dec 2014)

In this conversation between Nan Carle and John O’Brien John talks about what is meaningful to him. John explains that the meaning of our work deepens when we create the conditions for people with learning disabilities to shape their lives. Some of these include creating space for deep listening, the engagement of hearts and minds.

It’s easier to listen to than watch as the film quality is limited by the fact it is a recording of a webinar!

The cost of support

In Sept 2014 Ordinary Life Network members spent the day with John O’Brien to figure out how we can all work to grow positive cultures which free rather than bind those receiving support. Creating policies and procedures to free people is part of our ongoing work at Paradigm and the day with John will lead to further action.
