Be kind to yourself

We are nearing the end of this years Inclusive Leadership Lab with our final workshop and celebration with Nan Carle in a few weeks.

Slide1

Managing Emotional Well-being (one of the five talents of inclusive leaders) is at the forefront of my mind as this week. I’ve met people who are scared and questioning whether in the current climate creative, person focused support can be offered. I have also met people with a real fire in their belly, who whilst fearful of the currently climate, keep questioning, are committed to staying focused on what’s best for each person, to supporting all to explore, create, challenge and do!

The people with the fire in their belly all explain how important it is for them that they have friends, family, managers and leaders who give them the freedom to explore, to question, to challenge. They feel listened to and valued.

Family members have talked about the importance of peer support – others who are prepared to speak out with them. Self-advocates have talked about having people who really listen to them, who help them figure out what they want to do and help them do it!

Supporting people to not just survive but thrive is SO IMPORTANT.

Here are some of the questions Nan poses to participants in the course workbook.

1. How can you stay present and out of the debilitating aspects of the fear zone of uncertainty and insecurity?

2. How can you stay in conversation with individuals and families impacted by the changing budgets and policies?

3. How can you make sure not to become numb to their questions and concerns?

4. What management supports are needed to create the conditions for caring, compassion and clarity in decision-making?

What would your answer be to these questions?
